The Science and Engineering
Alliance, Inc. (SEA), was founded in 1990 as a nonprofit,
501(c)(3) tax-exempt consortia, to serve four state-supported
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and a
national laboratory. The purpose of the
SEA is to help ensure an adequate supply of top-quality minority
scientists while meeting the research and development needs of
the public and private sectors. SEA services include:
*
Technical Marketing and Community Relations
* Development of training and experimental programs for
faculty and students
* Creation of partnership opportunities with public and
private sectors
Enhancing Research
Opportunities & Advancing National Goals
The mission of SEA is to
enhance the combined research and training capabilities of the academic
partners and thus to ensure that qualified scientists and engineers are
prepared for the workforce. We then use the combined strengths as a "virtual
university" to meet the research and
development needs of the public and private sectors.
* Initiate new research projects that will foster
collaboration among the
member institutions, and strengthen faculty and
student development.
* Create partnerships that build on the existing
technical capabilities of
the member institutions as a basis to
improve
* Establish new faculty and student internships
and coops, and strengthen
those that exist.
* Prepare existing and prospective K-12 teachers
to teach science
