Broadening the horizons of young people and extending their vision beyond their classroom participation. Augmenting the academic classroom education of the underrepresented students by providing opportunities that will broaden their exposure and awareness in the areas of science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and various other relevant growth activities.
The Science and Engineering Alliance, Inc. (SEA), was founded in 1990 as a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt consortia, to serve four state-supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and a national laboratory. The purpose of the SEA is to help ensure an adequate supply of top-quality minority scientists while meeting the research and development needs of the public and private sectors. SEA services include: Technical Marketing and Community Relations Development of training and experimental programs for faculty and students Creation of partnership opportunities with public and private sectors Enhancing Research Opportunities & Advancing National Goals. The mission of SEA is to enhance the combined research and training capabilities of the academic partners and thus to ensure that qualified scientists and engineers are prepared for the workforce.
SEA Mission
To broaden participation in federally funded research initiatives by creating access and opening doors of opportunity for underrepresented individuals, institutions and regions that do not participate in federally supported programs at the rates comparable to others.
